----------------The Results----------------

When we all flocked back to School after the scorching heat of the Summer Holidays, we were greeted by some good news. Our students had scored exceptionally well at the ICSE & ISC Board Examinations. Many of these scholars have now gained admission in prestigious Engineering & Medical Institutions. Pride and joy was in every SHS heart, as Nilanjan Guha, Shivi Srivastava and Shrey Srivastava were felicitated by the Search Foundation of India for meritorious performance in the ICSE Exam.

----------------New Experiments----------------

The School has never fought shy of breaking new paths and one such avenue we explored was the Parents-Teachers Meetings. Dr. Ernest Sharon joined the School in July as the Director and his dynamic leadership and keen desire for change started a series of challenging experiments  in School  No longer was Parent-Teacher communication a  staid affair across the table.  The School was ablaze with a flash of colours, Inter-Cottage Project and Soft Board-Competitions were held, the Student Council was resplendent in their sashes and the Parent Body was ecstatic.

----------------Sports----------------

The year brought a spate of victories for S. H. S. Our boxing team won the Inter-School Boxing Tournament, bagging 11 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 9 bronze medals. Our Karate Team won the Inter-School Karate Championship, bagging 6 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. The media has constantly been highlighting our achievements. Our Soccer Team was the hero of the town in its designer blue outfit. History was re-written on the grounds of Green Park Stadium as S. H. S. beat Jaipuria 3-1.  The Athletic Meet also fetched a series of gold, silver and bronze medals to the School Team.

----------------Debates----------------

A series of debates, both English and Hindi, brought laurels for the School. The National English Debate Team was led by Devangi  Chaudhry and Akansha Tolani and both carried feathers in their caps, as they won several rounds, including the Runners Up at Mussoorie International, beating some of the best Schools in the country. The Hindi Debate Team led by Devrishi Khanna and Nandita Kachru also won the Inter-School Hindi Debate with Devrishi as the best speaker.

----------------Humanitarian Efforts----------------

We do not lag behind in our humanitarian efforts. The School does not lose an opportunity to extend a helping hand, to the weak and the deserving in our society. May it be the  physically challenged or the underprivileged sections of the society. The School organizes fund raising, by way of conducting food fares etc.

The Social activities group is at present funding the deprived children’s school in Sujatganj area  of Shyam Nagar, paying the salary of all the teachers. The Search Foundation, recently, at a function, felicitated, and honoured the school for its contributions in this area. The Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, gave away these citations at a well attended Public function.

----------------The Academics----------------

In the academic side, our reputation has even crossed the seven seas. We have been for the first time approached by one of the oldest and most distinguished Universities     in America - Washington University in St. Louis established in 1853. Their Alumini, parents and friends have asked us to nominate two good students for a "Dr. Danforth full scholarship" programme, after screening Sheiling House as one of the best Institute in India. We are into career counselling, for International Universities and have the close co- operation of the various Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates which matter. The Director is personally handling the  International Cell.

----------------Computer Literacy----------------

Computer   literacy has   reached   a   crescendo.   Our   decision   to    reinforce      our computer section, has given us an edge over most Schools. We now have a State of the Art Computer Labs - thoroughly modernized. Software and hardware, has been further enhanced, software being developed for all subjects. A practical approach in computers, by constant upgrading and a close link with Information Technology, has put us right on the pinnacle of success, even our Junior section computer labs have also been streamlined, towards providing innovative and creative means of teaching the subject. Today we can be truly called a Modem Hi tech School.

----------------Multimedia Classes----------------

The School now has a new Multi Media Section - a completely up to date approach to modern teaching. Glimpses of this can be seen today, in our feature "Down Memory Lane", Teaching is done through multi - media projectors, a versatile and innovative way of teaching. Sheiling House is also the first school to introduce teaching throughOver Head Projectors in Classrooms. Results have been encouraging. The psychological impact through audio visuals makes it easy, for the brain to retain the important and vital aspects of the lesson taught. Another step in this direction, is the provision of new audio visual equipment installed in our Junior wing, to overcome the drudgery of routine and monotonous class room teaching.

Management is the secret to productivity. Rarely is there too little time, but often there is time used unwisely, Bearing this in mind, we now have a modern EvaluationSection, comprising Computers all Networked and connected to our modem scanner, copier printer / duplicator, for easy accessibility. This section handles our examinations, tabulation  of   results,   accounts   package,   software   programming    and research,

Web site designing, database or any trouble shooting related to hardware or software implementation, and all documentary vital work connected to the school. The Section is manned by some of the best brains in Information Technology.

----------------Celebration----------------

Every festival is celebrated in the School premises. Diwali the festival of lights was celebrated. Christmas saw a Santa Claus, jingling a merry bell and wishing everybody a merry Christmas and a very happy new year. Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day had  the teachers and students celebrating as one big happy family. A lot of singing, dancing and joy shared with each other makes  SHS, more of a happy home rather than just a School.

The Founders' Day Annual Concert  in December was a stupendous success. The parents turned out in large  numbers over the two days and appreciation was writ large across each face. Be it the toddlers from the Junior Wing, gyrating to the tune of the Arabian Dance or the Senior Wing Dancers moving to the beat of the Bhangra, the crowd lapped it all up as it was entertainment  of the finest kind.

----------------New Building----------------

“Wattle Grove” our property in Civil Lines is being further developed and ‘Dilaram” the property under our control, next to ‘Wattle Grove”, will be merged to build a State of the Art School of our ’Vision’. We plan to give the best of everything to our children, once we get things rolling. Our alumni worldwide, have greatly encouraged us in this endeavour. The Committee is working overtime to make this future enterprise see the light of day.

----------------School Magazine----------------

Our working as a strong team has reaped us rich dividends. We would continue to do so, with your constant support. Our School Magazine titled “GLIMPSES” would soon be reaching your homes. “Glimpses” is one avenue reflecting the inroads we have made into the hearts and the minds of the people all around us.

----------------The Sheilingites----------------

Winds of change are sweeping across the school. You can see it in the confident posture of Sheilingites. They have an attitude, an awareness, that they belong to one of the premier institute’s of the city. To be a Sheilingite means you are a good scholar, a good citizen. The Board of Governors, all successful business entrepreneurs in their respective fields, are like proud mother hens. They shelter their chicks, look after them so lovingly, they have devoted their lives ‘for others’.

At the end of the day, one can simply recall the inimitable words of the Bard and describe the Sheilingites as having the humours so mixed in them that Nature might stand up and say  “There goes a Sheilingite!”
